Thomas Christian Cooper is Founder and Managing Partner of Owl Investments and Nest Sustainable Waste, leading these companies in pursuit of energy and infrastructure investment opportunities. Prior, Mr. Cooper was Board Member and CEO of Oilfield Water Logistics, LLC (“OWL”), an early pioneer in the water midstream and solid waste space, providing critical infrastructure to the energy industry. In October 2019, OWL’s water midstream business, OWL AssetCo 1, LLC, was sold to an affiliate of Instar Asset Management, a North American infrastructure fund, and continues to operate midstream water gathering, recycling and disposal systems across five states with a primary focus in the Permian Basin. Mr. Cooper and co-founder, Roger Johnson, continued to operate OWL AssetCo 1 until December 2021. Mr. Cooper originally founded OWL in 2014 with an investment from NGP Energy Capital, NGP Energy Technology Partners, the Mark Cuban Companies and other private investors. Prior, Mr. Cooper was founder and CEO of Oilfield Water Lines, the precursor to OWL, which sold to NGL Energy Partners (NYSE: NGL) in 2013. Mr. Cooper previously co-founded investment firm Eastern Partners and was CFO of Charis Partners, the initial oilfield water platform for Nuverra Environmental Solutions (NYSE: NES). Mr. Cooper began his investment career at private equity firm Olympus Real Estate Partners, the real estate affiliate of Dallas-based Hicks Muse, and as a consultant at Ernst & Young. Mr. Cooper received a BBA in Finance and BA in Political Science from Southern Methodist University in 1992, and an MBA from The University of Texas at Austin in 1995. Mr. Cooper is a member of the Advisory Council for the McCombs School of Business Master of Science in Finance Program and the McCombs Energy Initiative, and served prior terms on the North Texas Advisory Board for the Trust for Public Land and the board of the Town North YMCA.
Roger Frederick Johnson is Founder and Managing Partner of Owl Investments and its portfolio companies. Mr. Johnson originally founded "OWL II" in 2014 with an investment from NGP Energy Capital Management, NGP Energy Technology Partners, and select private investors. Prior, Mr. Johnson was a private investor and manager of many projects through his operating companies including Winston Capital Corporation, Eastern Partners, KG Exploration and others. These projects include purchasing minerals, putting together leasing and drilling programs, gaming, landfill development, real estate (including land and lot development, condo and marina development, as well as multifamily). Previously, Mr. Johnson was a commercial mortgage banker working for the predecessor of North Marq Capital and was a bankruptcy/workout consultant for Ernst & Young. Mr. Johnson received a BBS in Finance from Louisiana State University and an MBA from Tulane University in New Orleans. Mr. Johnson serves on the Boards of Oilfield Water Logistics, LLC, Woodard Walker, LLC and Origin Minerals, LLC.
